Creative Outlet

I spend a lot of time trying to pinpoint my niche when it comes to my creative side. I love music, adore writing, enjoy painting and photography... but I never have felt like I could say, with confidence, that I am a "musician" (or painter, or writer, etc.) My abilities and endeavors seem, at least in my opinion, to fall a little short of the defining mark.
A bizarre thing happened last night, though, as I was decorating a cake for my coworker. There I was, standing in my kitchen at eleven 'o clock pm, painting little fondant rocks and admiring my first serious attempt at a 3D cake, when it dawned on me. I am CREATIVE!!! <-----noun. I don't think it matters what venue I express it in as long as I allow myself the freedom to realize the creative energy within me. That energy was given to me by THE creator. It's funny, isn't it? If I claim to believe in God and His Word, then I know that He created man in His own image. His is an image of unfathomable creativity. It tickles me pink to think that my Father gave me such a wonderful piece of Himself when He created me. I can't begin to imagine how much He must have enjoyed crafting each and every creature, plant, and star... and how much more He smiled upon the creation of His pride and joy... Us. My co-worker is leaving us for a new job. He has been studying for years to work with wildlife and recently landed a position with AZ State's Fish and Game Dept. I was so happy for him that I decided to bake him a going-away cake. He loved it!... and I got to experience, not only the joy of creating, but the sheer delight of giving a piece of myself away for another person's happiness. That is better than any definition could possibly be!

"Dean's Fish & Game Cake"

The bottom tier is supposed to look like a map, complete with Dean's black Prius.
The middle tier is a desert-scape with rocks, roadrunner, snake, cactus and a stream of water.
The top tier is meant to look like canyon rock with a big-horn sheep and a guy who kind of looks like Dean. Then, I had to add a small airplane flying over the top for aerial photography!
